I bought an item from the owner at Quilters Corner for $80. My husband shocked at the price, finds it somewhere else for $43 & we decide to return it. When I brought it back, 5 days later, unopened, with my receipt, the owner would not issue me a refund. She put the item right back on the wall where is was 5 days ago, but would not give me my money back. She gave me a store credit, but I didn't need anything from her store other than this machine part. We called her back the next day, nicely trying to reach a middle ground on the $40 difference in price. She would not budge on the price, she would not agree to a restocking fee. She was not willing to price match or even meet us in the middle on price. We then went to the store & asked to see her return policy posted. (from what we understand under VA law it must be visible to the customer) She fumbled around and could not find it herself saying it must have gotten moved, they had been cleaning up. She could not produce it herself. We showed her a print out of the VA law stating that it had to be clearly & predominantly visible. She said she knew the law. Within hours of our leaving as very unhappy customers we noticed she then posted the policy online & surely has it visible in the store now. But just be warned, she does not put her customers first!

I had the fortune of visiting this store on Labor Day weekend, 2008. I had found the store, not through Quilt Sampler, but through the Central Virginia Tour De Quilt website. When I got to the store, I went about my search for fabrics to complete a new project. In my journey around the shop, I passed the front counter, and squealed with delight when I found the Quilt Sampler magazine. It went into my 'to purchase' pile. I continued around the store, finding more and more things to purchase. As I was getting ready to check out, I saw a framed copy of Quilt Sampler hanging behind the register. I asked, "Oh, are you in Quilt Sampler?" They chuckled and said, "We're not just IN it, we have the cover quilt!" And there, beside the framed Quilt Sampler, hanging on the wall, was the cover quilt. (I was a little bit embarrassed for not seeing it, but ... they laughed with me about missing the bright red (and white) quilt on the wall. I was just on sensory overload. ;)
Leaving the store, I made sure to stop by Kathleen's Fudge Shop (just a couple doors down). I was like a kid in a candy store ... (wonder why!). She had yummy homemade fudge, and some 'oldies but goodies'. It was hard to leave the store without spending nearly as much as I had on my fabric. Delightful visit to both stores. Definitely a "must visit."
