I haven't quilted in some time and forgot how to tie the knot to begin. Please help me! Do you find this valuable?

Hold your need in your right hand so it's pointing left. Hold the long tail of the thread in your left hand so it's pointing right. Lift your finger on the needle to hold the end of the long thread tail. Wind the thread around the need a few times with our left hand (just a few times, you want a small knot). Make the wound thread a little taut and put your needle finger over the wraps so they don't unwind. With your left hand, gently pull the need thru the wrapped thread, keeping your finger and thumb on it. When the thread is all the way thru, you'll feel a little knot between your finger and thumb - viola!

Trim the thread hanging out of the knot to about 1/2", and don't forget to pop the knot into the quilt sandwich. Use the point of your needle to fish the tail inside, too.

End a line of quilting with a small neat backstitch and "bury" a 6-8-inch long tail inside the quilt sandwich in an area that will be quilted or has been quilted (those quilting stitches will help keep the tail from going anywhere). To bury the thread, pull the needle and thread out, then poke it back into the same hole and come out somewhere else a few inches away - pull the thread into the quilt sandwich and repeat, so your thread tail is still long but is inside the quilt.
