can anyone give me an idea about how many yards of thread is usually necessary to hand quilt a queen size quilt. approximately???Thanks Do you find this valuable?

Yardage is always going to depend on how closely you quilt, just outline or lots of crosshatch and stipple. 800-2000 yards I would estimate. I usually use about 3-500 yd spools per quilt, I like theme stipple in my backgrounds. I do a lot of dimensional applique so any left over quilting thread is used making gathered blossoms and ruching. It is stronger than regular thread. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Thank you for the reply. A friend had asked an Amish Lady to quilt a quilt for her, and the quote was so much per yard of thread. The quilt is kingsize so the cost will be up there, but nice hand quilting takes time! Thanks again for your reply. I will give her the info.
